Project X
As an investigation for infrastructure, our team was influenced by Thom Maynes Suprastudio on Combinatory, which is a branch off and completion of Maki’s urbanism metabolism (Japanese Metabolist). The research pulled us away from the disk shape of the Eco- Island to use something more sustainable in a contemporary sense, the use of two bars that formed a cruciform, which housed all the program and had dense tree scape on top. The cruciform was cut along a diagonal to allow cruise ships to run through, a temporal spectacle. The Mega-structure allows for not only the infrastructure to be replaced in time but also the program. “Our work moves away from stable alignments toward open-ended affiliations characterized by their fractured natures and multiple futures.”
